Summit County Open Space & Trails

 

Doig Meadow Extension Clean Up -– May 21st

Help clean up one of the County’s new Open Space properties in the Lower Blue.  We’ll be picking up trash, re-seeding areas, and making this area more wildlife friendly by removing barbed wire fencing.

Seedling Tree Planting -- June 4th

Participate in a great cause by planting tree seedlings on County reforestation sites.  This event is in cooperation with the Bristlecone Legacy Foundation which supports patients and families in need in Summit County.  In the afternoon, a free concert for volunteers will be hosted at the Breckenridge Riverwalk Center (featured artists:  Oakhurst and Randall McKinnon Band).

Join us for an additional day of planting Colorado blue spruce and Bristlecone pine seedlings on County reforestation sites.

Pulling for Colorado -- July 9th

Be a Weed Warrior and be involved in a statewide weed pull to help eradicate noxious weeds on Open Space properties. 

Little Mountain Project -- July -23rd-24th

Join Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado, Friends of Breckenridge Trails and Open Space & Trails to reroute and improve a portion of the Illinois Creek Trail.

Horseshoe Gulch Trail – August TBD

Help construct an interpretive loop and install a new bridge near the historic dredge boat on Tiger Road.

Juniata Trail August 18th - 19th

Help us improve drainage and construct a turnpike in this muddy section of trail with the Friends of Breckenridge Trails.

Keystone Homestead Trail – September 17th-18th

Join Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado, Friends of Dillon Ranger District and Open Space & Trails to maintain and improve a heavily used singletrack trail that is a major route from Keystone into the Golden Horseshoe area.

Mesa Cortina/Wildernest Buffer Open Space – September 17 and October 8

In this area where cutting of Mountain Pine Beetle killed trees has dramatically changed the landscape, help improve trails and build stream crossings.

Make a Difference Day -- October 8th

Join in and help out our trails and open spaces on a community-wide volunteer day.
