Proposal to Refer Ballot Measure Authorizing the Ongoing Extension of the Early Childhood Care and Learning Levy for Local Summit County Families

PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that beginning September 1, 2013, the Board of County Commissioners of Summit County, Colorado will sit as the County Board of Equalization (CBOE) to hold hearings on appeals of decisions of the Summit County Assessor denying, in whole or in part, applications for Qualifying Senior or Disabled Veteran Property Tax Exemptions.  To be eligible for appeal, property owners must have filed an application for tax exemption with the Assessor on or before July 15, 2013.    The form for filing an appeal was included on the Notice of Denial or Notice of Granted in Part form provided by the Assessor.  Appeals forms must be postmarked or hand delivered to the County Board of Equalization Office, P.O. Box 68, 208 East Lincoln Avenue (3rd Floor), Breckenridge, Colorado 80424, on or before September 15, 2013.

County Board of Equalization Appeals

In compliance with 39-8-104, C.R.S., beginning on July 1, 2013, the Summit County Commissioners will sit as the County Board of Equalization (CBOE) to review the assessment roll of all taxable property located in the County of Summit, as prepared by the Assessor, and to hear appeals from determinations of the Assessor. The CBOE will hold hearings to review property valuation appeals from July 24, 2013 through August 2, 2013, at the Old Summit County Courthouse located in Breckenridge, Colorado.  Homeowners and property owners who timely filed objections to valuations set by the Summit County Assessor and are dissatisfied with the Assessor’s final determination of value, may file a petition to have that determination reviewed by the CBOE.  Petitions may be hand delivered to 208 E. Lincoln Ave, 3rd Floor, Breckenridge, CO 80424 or sent via U.S. Mail to PO BOX 68, Breckenridge, CO 80424.  Petitions for review of real property valuations must be received or postmarked on or before July 15, 2013 to be eligible for CBOE review.  Petitions for review of personal property valuations must be received or postmarked on or before July 20, 2013 to be eligible for CBOE review.  Upon owner’s timely delivery of an eligible petition, the CBOE will set a hearing in the matter and provide owner with notice of the hearing date and time.
