New Registrations
Office Closure: Friday, Feb. 12
The Motor Vehicle Office will be closed for remodeling all day on Friday, Feb. 12.

New vehicles must be registered in Colorado within 60 days following the purchase date.

Expect your renewal card to be delivered the first week of your renewal month. If you did not receive your renewal card, please contact our office or renew your vehicle registration online 
at the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Online Renewals 
Renew your plates online in a single transaction using credit card or electronic check.
    You will need:

  • Your license plate number
  • Checking account info or credit card (e-check for $1; credit card transactions are subject to additional convenience fees)
  • A valid email address  

Temporary Registrations

Temporary registrations may be issued for up to 60 days from the purchase date. You must pay applicable sales tax or show proof of payment for issuance of a temporary registration.

Tips for Easy Vehicle Registration
Be prepared. The following may be required:

  • Title
  • License plate number
  • Proof of valid insurance
  • VIN number
  • Photo ID

Payment Options

  • Cash, check or credit and debit cards
  • Make checks payable to Summit County Clerk
