Summit County Seniors offer a variety of services that are beneficial to its members. The goal of these services is to promote the well being of its members physically, socially, and mentally. All seniors, including non-members, are invited to use these services. Specific time and date information for these services can be found in the current newsletter; click on the News tab above.

Adult Day Care
Timberline Adult Day Services, also housed at the center, provides daytime care for adults limited in their ability to function independently. Services include healthy meals and snacks, social experiences, daily exercise, music, medical monitoring and activities in a safe, nurturing environment. If a person qualifies under the Home and Community Based Services Program, Medicaid will cover the cost of services. For more information, please call 970-668-2952.

 

Ask A Lawyer Day
Local lawyers visit the Center monthly to answer any legal questions you may have. Click on the News tab to find out more information.

 


Computer Help
You can get help with some of the basics.  Click on the News tab and read the section on Computer Basics.

 

File Of Life
File of Life insures that Emergency Medical Technicians called to your home will immediately know your health history. The system could provide be potentially life-saving information. File of Life provides a magnetized pocket for your refrigerator containing a card with a mini-medical history. A compact version is available for use in your wallet.

Five Wishes
Five Wishes is a guideline that indicates your personal, emotional and spiritual needs as well as your medical wishes. This Five Wishes booklet gives you a way to inform those close to you how you wish to be treated if you get seriously ill. The form is easy to complete and lets you express what you want.

Name Tags
Summit County Seniors blue plastic nametags may be ordered for $5.75 for non-magnetic, $6.75 for magnetic. Just stop by the office.

Weekly Meals
Summit County Seniors host three meals throughout the week - Monday night dinner served at 5:30 and Tuesday/Thursday lunches served at noon.  Call the Center (970-668-2940) in advance to make your reservation and inquire about the very reasonable cost.  Menus are posted under the News tab.  These nutritious meals provide a great opportunity for socialization and entertainment.

 

Home Deliveries
Home delivered meals are available to the homes of older adults who are unable to cook for themselves.

Medicare Counseling
Confused about your Medicare bills? Click on the News tab to see when free counseling is offered at the Center this month.  Call the Front Desk at 970-668-2940 to schedule a counseling appointment. Another resource for Medicare information is 1-800-332-6681.

 

Outreach Committee
We all need help sometimes and your senior friends are ready to provide it if you inform this special committee of the need. If you know of anyone who needs some kind of help, please call the Center at 970-668-2940. The office will take your calls and inform the committee chair.


Volunteers are also needed.The Outreach Committee provides rides for medical appointments, help with shopping and cleaning, hospital visitations, and other services. Volunteers find this service both enjoyable and rewarding. If you would like to volunteer or if you know of someone who needs help, please let the committee know.

 

Transportation

Mountain Mobility is a form of transportation available to individuals unable to access the regular Summit Stage free county transportation. Call 970-668-0999 to schedule rides on Mountain Mobility.

Medical trips to Denver are provided for those over 60 through volunteers working with the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program. To arrange for a trip to Denver call the Center at 970-668-2940 at least 5 days in advance.

Wellness Testing
Wellness Testing is being offered to Seniors by the Summit Medical Center. At a significant savings, they are offering many lab tests such as complete blood count, chemistry panel, lipid panel, PSA and thyroid screen. Forms are available at the Center office.
