Summit County Senior Citizens, Inc., is a non-profit organization operating on what is essentially a zero budget; that is, everything that comes in goes out. It does very little formal fund raising, and its myriad activities are virtually self-supporting. |

County Funding Summit County Seniors are fortunate to be partially supported through Summit County Government. The Summit County Community and Senior Center, where the senior activities are held, is owned and managed by the county. The county provides the staff for the Center and for the Seniors' programs. By linking your City Market discount card to Seniors, the Summit County Seniors will receive credit but your discounts will not be affected. A win-win situation! The Summit County Seniors staff the Visitor Information Center in Frisco every Sunday on a year-round schedule. Funds earned from this activity help to support Seniors programs. If you are interested in helping staff the information center, please contact the Senior Center office at 970-668-2940. An annual rummage sale is sponsored by the Summit County Seniors. Traditionally this activity occurs in late summer. All proceeds from this event are donated to organizations and programs that benefit Summit County Seniors. Volunteer seniors staff the entire rummage sale project, from setup to sales to cleanup. Donations are accepted from the community and range from household goods to clothing and sporting goods; no furniture or heavy appliances are accepted. This is a great opportunity to volunteer for a worthy cause. Please refer to the Calendar tab or the News tab above for specific drop-off dates, sale dates and for the volunteer coordinator contact information. In addition to the work at the Information Center, the City Market Cares program, county support, and rummage sales, Summit County Seniors occasionally participate and organize other fund raising events. These events are listed in the Newsletter (see News tab above). Be sure to check these sites frequently to find out about any fund raising events that may be occurring. |
