Military and Overseas Voters
also called UOCAVA Electors
(Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act) ----Application
- What is UOCAVA? This acronym
is used to refer to the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act. This act was passed
to ensure that registering and voting is as convenient as possible for U.S. citizens
who are overseas either permanently or temporarily.
- There are three categories of UOCAVA
Voters:
1) Deployed members of the armed forces, including the National Guard and merchant marines and their family members who accompany them.
2) Non-resident overseas citizens. U.S. citizens who now reside overseas permanently, sometimes referred to as "expatriates", who do not intend to return to the U.S.
3) Resident overseas citizens. U.S. citizens who are temporarily overseas, perhaps for work or an extended vacation. Voters in this group intend to return to the U.S.
- In all of these categories, your last U.S. address is required to have been within Summit County in order for you to vote as a Summit County Elector.
If you fall into any of the above listed categories and wish to vote as a Summit County elector, please complete the application accessed through the application link above and submit it to this office either via mail, fax or the internet.
