Will my insurance pay for my ambulance ride?

It depends on your insurance company and the level of coverage on your policy. To be assured that your ambulance transports are covered, check your policy. You may also contact your insurance company, or Human Resources Manager.

What if I don’t have insurance?

You may contact us to set up monthly payments. If you cannot pay the balance due to financial hardship, please contact the billing office to request a Financial Hardship Application.

Why are your ambulance rates so high?

Our rates are regulated by the State of Colorado, and approved by the Summit County Board of County Commissioners. We are a County Government Enterprise Fund, which means that we receive no tax funding or mill levies.  We are not affiliated with any hospital or fire district.  Our fees are comparable to ambulance services in the surrounding area.  We rely solely on the fees we collect to continue providing the highest quality care to our citizens and visitors.

Why does my insurance company pay Usual and Customary (U & C) rates? What if they only pay part of my bill?

Every insurance company is different and they devise a set of fees based on an average amount from other ambulance services over a large geographic region. The U&C is an arbitrary number that does not reflect actual fees in our area.  Regardless of what your insurance company deems U&C, we bill for the full amount, and any portion not paid by insurance will be billed to you.
