SUMMIT COUNTY – The Summit Seniors will hold their annual Gigantic Rummage Sale and Silent Auction from August 2-5, raising tens of thousands of dollars to support local nonprofit organizations throughout Summit County.

The annual event, which takes place at the Summit County Community & Senior Center in Frisco, serves as a pop-up thrift store where Summit County residents and visitors can find great bargains on a wide range of items, including clothing, home goods, sports equipment, antiques and more. Community members can also participate in the event by donating gently used items to be sold during the Rummage Sale. Local businesses are invited to donate items for the silent auction.

“This is our largest fundraiser of the year, and it's a really fun way to invest in the community," event co-chair Brenda Alberico said. "Whether you come to take advantage of the amazing deals, bid on silent auction items or donate something to the sale, your involvement goes directly toward strengthening Summit County."

In 2017, the Rummage Sale raised $43,000. The Summit Seniors donate all proceeds to community organizations including Timberline Adult Day Services, National Repertory Orchestra, Summit County Search & Rescue, Summit Community Care Clinic, Friends of the Dillon Ranger District and the Family and Intercultural Resource Center. The volunteer-run event is in its 26th year. Last year, more than 250 volunteers from Summit Seniors invested over 3,400 hours.

The Summit Seniors Gigantic Rummage Sale spans six days of frenetic fundraising activity:

  • Donations for the Rummage Sale are accepted from 7 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 31, and Wednesday, Aug. 1.
  • The Gigantic Rummage Sale presale takes place from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 2, where early birds get first dibs on all sale items for a $10 admission charge.
  • The regular sale takes place from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Friday Aug. 3, and Saturday, Aug. 4.; and 10 a.m. – 12 noon, Sunday, Aug. 5. There is no admission charge for the regular sale.
  • On Sunday, Aug. 5, customers can fill a bag to the brim for just $2.
  • The silent auction takes place Thursday through Saturday, Aug. 2-4, with final bids at 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 4
