Green Mountain Reservoir Drowning Victim Located

At first light on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, Summit County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations and Summit County Water Rescue personnel resumed the search for the missing diver at Green Mountain Reservoir from Tuesday.

GREEN MOUNTAIN RESERVOIR DROWNING VICTIM LOCATED


SUMMIT COUNTY, CO – At first light on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, Summit County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations and Summit County Water Rescue personnel resumed the search for the missing diver at Green Mountain Reservoir from Tuesday.  As a result of the search, a 27 year old male was located by sonar and recovered by divers at a depth of about 70 feet in the reservoir. At approximately 12:30 p.m. the Summit County Coroner was requested to take custody of the deceased diver. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Summit County Coroner.


Sheriff Jaime FitzSimons stated, “While many outdoor experiences offer excitement, they can also result in tragedy. I encourage the public to be safety minded while enjoying the many recreational activities in Summit County.”
