Aug. 14 Update

Posted on August 14, 2015 at 3:47 PM by Julie Sutor

We’re happy to share the great news that crews have finished all major paving work for Phase 1 of the Summit Cove Loop Project, which means no more road closures or detours this year. The Road & Bridge team deeply appreciates all the patience and understanding you’ve shown throughout the summer. One of our guys says he’s considering a move to Summit Cove, which he now calls “the friendliest neighborhood in Summit County.” Later this month, the contractor will do some minor pavement work to repair damaged spots at the Soda Creek culverts, but one lane will be kept open at all times.

Stop signs have been removed from Summit Drive at the northern intersection with Vail Circle and at the intersection with Stoner Drive, in response to feedback from residents. We have installed variable message signs to alert drivers of these changes. Once the bicycle/pedestrian lanes are marked, the resulting narrower drive lanes should reduce average vehicle speeds. Pavement marking of the bicycle/pedestrian lanes is scheduled to take place the first week of September.

Next week, crews will conduct some shouldering work on the north end of Summit Drive, and they’ll begin to remove equipment and materials out of the staging area. They’ll also be working with residents on mailbox installation. All residents who currently have mail delivery service will receive a new mailbox and post. If you have questions or concerns about mailbox placement or design, please call the Road & Bridge hotline at 970-668-4232.
