This week, crews on the Summit Cove Loop Project began widening the roadway platform in front of Summit Cove Elementary School to accommodate the planned sidewalks and parent drop-off/pick-up areas. This widened roadway will also accommodate the pedestrian/bicycle lanes, which will improve the flow of traffic through this congested area.
Next week, concrete work will begin in front of the school. These improvements will provide the necessary drainage and access to and from the Summit Cove Elementary School property. Concrete trucks will be moving in and out of the area throughout the week, and we ask everyone in the neighborhood to exercise caution around the construction zone, and avoid the area if possible.
The trailhead parking across from the school remains closed. Please continue to use the upper parking lot in front of the Summit Cove Elementary School for trail access, and pay close attention to the flaggers, as there will only be one access to the parking lot available during the concrete work.
Your County staff and our contractor would again like to thank all of the residents and visitors in the neighborhood for your continued patience and understanding during this construction process and any associated traffic delays.
