Participation:
All four municipal law enforcement agencies and the Summit County Sherriff's Office are part of the 'Keep the Beat Summit' project. Whether you are in the jurisdiction of Silverthorne, Dillon, Frisco, or Breckenridge Police Departments or the Summit County Sheriff's Office, your protection is enhanced as all patrol vehicles are equipped with an AED and all patrol officers are trained in CPR and AED use.
Law Enforcement response:A tiered EMS response system in Summit County relies upon early law enforcement officer arrival to provide CPR and use the AED. Law enforcement officers typically arrive on scene before responders from the fire department or ambulance service. These initial minutes before EMS arrives can make the difference in survival for a person suffering sudden cardiac arrest. This model reflects recommendations of The American Heart Association and is well supported by scientific studies.
