Foster Care Program

Interested in becoming a Foster Parent?  Looking to Foster to Adopt?

Did you know that foster parents are:
  • Age 21 and older
  • All income levels
  • Men and women
  • Single, married or divorced
  • With or without children
  • Members of the LGBT community
  • Homeowners or Renters

Foster Homes

There are different kinds of foster homes:
  • Emergency homes – Three homes provide short term placements, usually a few hours to maybe a few weeks.  Most of the placements in Summit County fall under this category.
  • Regular foster homes – These homes take in children who may need longer care, or cover occasional back-up for emergency homes. These homes may make stipulations regarding the children they take into their homes.
  • Foster to Adopt homes – Some children may need a foster home that is open to adopting the child if parental rights are terminated.
